We have been so blessed with our baby girl. She is healthy, beautiful, funny, sweet and just an all around perfect baby girl. I thank God for her everyday. She is the light of my life and I love to wake up next to her smiling face every morning. To see her sweet little grin and to kiss her chubby little cheeks every day is amazing. I am so blessed to be her Mommy.
My world feels complete with my baby girl and my wonderful husband. I just have this nagging feeling about adoption. Maybe it is a calling from God. DH and I have so much love to give. We have so much love in our hearts and we want baby girl to have siblings. Whether they grow in my body, or grow in our hearts is not an issue.
I have been researching adoption and have come across a wonderful place called, Reece's Rainbow. It is a wonderful adopion advocacy group that caters towards children with down syndrome. They have children with other issues as well, some with CP, HIV, FAS. I have been looking everyday at the waiting children and I want to bring them all home with me. Every last one! There are 3 little girls that I am drawn too though. Three precious angels that tug at my heart and I want them to come home and call me Mama. I want baby girl to be their big (little!) sister and to love on them and make them feel safe and happy always.
When baby girl and I look on the computer she likes to laugh and talk to their pictures. She gets very excited and waves her hands and claps at them on the screen. I wish we had 100K to bring all 3 angels home with us.
Adoption is such a wonderful thing, and makes the world a better place but it is so dang expensive. Even with grants, tax credits and donations, there are an astronomical amount of upfront fees and costs associated with adoption, especially when you factor in travel to another country.
We will be playing the lottery this weekend, and if we win there will be at least 3 new additions to our little family!
I admire any family that adopts a child. I hope to one day be one of those families! Until then, my only wish is that all those waiting children find their forever families quickly so they can start feeling the unconditional love and support of a family.

6 months!
Where has the time gone? 6 months. It is amazing how much baby girl has grown and how active and wonderful she is. She officially weighs 16 pounds even and is 26 inches long. I still call her my tiny princess girl, but she isn't tiny anymore! She is wearing 9 month jammies to bed and is just barely fitting into her 6 month summer clothes! I'm glad her closet has some 12 month stuff in there. She is growing so fast.
She is still nursing well, we are introducing solids slowly. She has had prunes and bananas so far. She seems to really enjoy eating, but I don't want it to interfer with her nursing. She has tried banana puffs and a mum-mum. She makes these awful faces like it is the worst thing in the world! It is such a crack up. We're thinking about sending it into America's Funniest Home Videos, it would so win!
Other than that, it is life as usual! We wake up between 5 and 5:30 during the week, meds for M (solu-tab for reflux), nurse, get ready for the day. I leave for work at 7 AM. I leave work at 4 PM, get home at 4:30, feed baby girl, try some solids, make dinner, clean up, tubby time, feed baby girl, meds for M (solu-tab), eat again and sleepy time. I try to have her in bed between 8-9 PM, but somedays it is earlier, others it's later!
I love rocking her to sleep every night. I know some people say that it leads to bad sleeping habits, but I don't see her all day! I miss her so much when I am at work, it hurts my heart to think about it. So I am going to rock her as much as I want! She is still my little princess girl!

4 1/2 Months!
Baby girl is 4 1/2 months old! Time is flying by! At her 4 month appointment she weighed 13 lbs exactly and was 23 3/4" long!!! She is getting so big. She fits perfectly in 6 month sleepers. Her 3 month and 3-6 month stuff is getting a little tight in the feet and is stretching to capacity in the length. She is babbling away and her smile is the most beautiful smile in the world.
I miss her like crazy all day at work. The only positive is that she is home with Daddy. I always feel better leaving in the morning because she is napping on Daddy's chest.
I am still breastfeeding, and dang proud of it. I feel like this is quite an accomplishment seeing as it took a good 6 weeks for the pain to go away. I think once I hit 6 weeks is when the anxiety every feeding went away. I no longer wanted to quit and give her formula everytime she was hungry. I would literally tear up at the thought of breastfeeding her one more time. It was so painful and I was so tired and sore from the c-section. I wish someone had been honest and up front with me on how difficult it was going to be. I know some woman have it very easy and they have no pain at all. My LC told me about 60 times that once I hit the 2 week mark it would be all better. Well, 2 weeks came and went and I struggled. I thought it must be me. I must be my fault. I must be doing something wrong! Baby girl latched well, I used lanolin like it was going out of style, I leaked, I did everything I was told to do. 6 weeks. 6 weeks. 6 weeks. If someone asked me for my honest opinion on breastfeeding...I'd tell them this:
It is the most rewarding, comforting, wonderful experience for both me and my daughter. It is also the one thing that made me doubt my abilities to parent my child. It is the one thing that made me feel like a failure everytime. A Mom shouldn't cry at the thought of feeding her child. She shouldn't look at her baby with tears pouring down her cheeks distraught at the thought of giving her a bottle of formula. I was made to think that if I gave my daughter one bottle of formula I was damaging her insides forever. It is not a comforting thought. But, in the end I am so glad I stuck it out and kept going. I wouldn't trade my time nursing my daughter for anything. It is our special time and I cherish it. My husband looked at us one day and said he was so happy I decided to nurse because not only was I feeding our daughter, I was nourishing her. It was the most beautiful thing I heard.
And while I think it is wonderful that breastfeednig worked for me, I think about how bad the LC made me feel at the thought of feeding her formula. Why do we do that? Why do we make people feel bad about their decisions? As long as you are taking care of your child and feeding them, who cares how? Formula or breastmilk, solids at 4 months or 6 months, cloth diapering or disposable diapering, co sleeping or not, vaxing-non vaxing-delayed vaxing, cir'd vs non-cir'd. These are the decisions that we make that we get criticized and scrutinized for when we should be celebrating and cheering for our fellow Mommy's. I say, however you want to raise your child, as long as it is a happy healthy environment is up to you...and we should be supportive!!!
I support you fellow Mommy's!
And on a side note.....Baby girl is a fish! She loves the water, and we are so blessed to have a pool in our community!

Delayed vaccine schedule!
I need the blogging world's help right now! I am delaying baby girls vaccines. She had her 2 month shots at 2 and 3 months instead of all at 2 months. Now, I think I want to do delayed and selective vaccines.
So, tell me! What is your vaccine schedule? What vaccines are you not doing? I want to have my schedule done for her 4 month appointment at the pediatrician. Thank you!!!!!

Blog Award!
So, I have have been given a blogger award! Yay me, and thanks to Breanna over at Adventures in Mommyland! I love this whole blogging thing, and I hope to be able to update more once everything settles down with baby girl.
She has had 2 hospital trips so far. Once for a UTI. She had to stay 2 nights, 3 days and get IV antibiotics. She was only 19 days old. It was so sad to see her little arm with an IV in it. Both sets of parents came to visit at the hospital and you could tell how upset it made them. She also had to get a spinal tap. DH and I stayed in the room with her, but we weren't allowed to touch her. They made us sit in the chairs against the wall. She was so upset. Screamed and cried. The doctor stuck her once and couldn't get any fluid. I almost lost it on the staff. It caused me unimaginable pain to hear her and not be able to do a darn thing about it. I didn't sleep for over 48 hours and just spent a lot of time crying. She got her antibiotics, didn't have meningitis (thank God!), and we were able to take her home. They discharged her and went to take out her IV. The worst part (as anyone who has had an IV knows) is the tape! When will they come up with a better way? She screamed and cried again and I just help her and cried with her. Heartbreaking!
The second hospital trip was after she had an upper gi done to check for reflux (which she has). The barium that they made her drink gave her the worst diarrhea. The pediatrician was worried about her getting dehydrated so her sent us in. We sat in the ER waiting room for 3 hours before being taken back. The resident came in, looked at her and sent us home. It felt like a wasted trip, but we always err on the side of caution with her.
So, poor baby has acid reflux. I was wondering why she wasn't eating normally anymore. She would arch her back and scream when she tried to eat. She didn't sleep well for a few nights and was miserable all day long. She has started Zantac 3 times a day, and (knock on wood!) it seems to be starting to help. I'm hoping it gets better and better as the days go on.
So far it has been quite an adventure, and we feel so blessed to be a part of it!
Stats:
9 lbs 1 oz (last week at appointment)
Still exclusively breastfeeding (yay me!)
That's all I can think of right now!
Thanks for the award, and I know there are rules for them, I will take care of that next week!

Life as a Mom
My life as a Mom consists of:
-feeding the baby
-changing the baby
-watching the baby sleep
I love it! Baby is growing so well, at her last appointment she weighed 8 lbs 4 oz and had grown a 1/4 of an inch! She is getting so big. Exactly 4 weeks old today and I am getting sad at the thought of going back to work in 2 short weeks. My OB's office lied and are basically screwing me out of 6 whole paid weeks I have available. I am super upset with them and will not be returning to their office for an subsequent appointments. I have one more appointment with them next week and I can't guarantee I will be anything less than a bitch! They've never really been very pleasant and I probably should have found another OB early in my pregnancy, but I stuck with it hoping my attitude and the fact that I am never anything but nice and kind to them would change them. It didn't and every week I would be so frustrated with how rude the nurses were. Oh well, I guess I just learned a lesson.
I am really sad though. I am really not ready to go back to work at all. I wish I could afford to stay home for a few weeks without pay. I envy all the stay at home Mom's out there. I'm sure it can be frustrating and it's far from an easy job.....but I hope you all realize how blessed you are to be able to stay home with your beautiful babies. I'm jealous.
I also wish someone would have been honest with me about breastfeeding. I didn't realize how amazing, frustrating, powerful and small breastfeeding could make you feel. I have officially made it 1 whole month. 11 more to go. My goal is 1 year with no formula for baby girl. DH and I both feel it is the healthiest decision for our baby. But, I still struggle with it somedays. Especially nights. We do have a canister of formula on the counter, along with a box of rice cereal. For some reason, girls on both sides of our familes have either come home from the hospital on rice cereal or have had to start it very shortly after birth. My Mom started me on rice at 2 weeks old, my SIL was started at 2 days old, my aunt came home on rice cereal. It's like she is just not getting full and it can be very frustrating. I feel like my body is not doing its job properly because my baby is still hungry even after eating for an hour this morning.
I need to go get my breast pump from the lactation consultant. It's going to cost us $245 for the Medela PIS. We are going to the WIC office tomorrow morning to see if we qualify. I hate to take assistance, but I haven't gotten paid in 4 weeks and we could use the help. I know they like it when Mom's breastfeed vs. formula feed so I am hoping they might pay for part or all of the breast pump.
All in all I would say my life is darn good. Beautiful baby girl, wonderful husband. What more could I ask for? Blessed!

The Princess is Here!
Our beautiful princess has arrived. She is perfect. Madison was born January 25th at 7:54 AM by scheduled c-section. She was a perfect 7 lbs 2 oz, and 20 1/2 inches long. When we left the hospital she weighed 6 lbs 10 1/2 oz. At her first pediatrician appointment she had gained 4 1/2 oz.
She is a beautiful, perfect little baby. Cries when she is hungry or gassy. She is sleeping in her swing right now. Daddy and I are just settling into family life right now.
I am breastfeeding (that is for another blog post though!), and she is sleeping 3 hour stretches at night. We are looking forward to watching her grow and become a wonderful person.
The c-section went OK, although I did get sick on the table. Not fun. I am healing well, the staples are out making it 100% easier to get in and out of bed. I am still sore, but getting better everyday.
We are so happy and can't believe that she is ours!

7 days!
Exactly one week from today we will be welcoming our gorgeous baby girl into the world. Daddy and I are ecstatic! We have everything ready, and thanks to my super generous co-workers at my old office we now have the stroller! DH and I put it together as soon as it came in yesterday and let me tell you, nicest stroller out there! It's a Chicco Cortina in the cubes print. Very gender neutral, super light (for a full sized stroller) and plenty tall enough for my 6'3" husband to push around comfortably! We put it on the registry after trying out every stroller in the store (from the $20 umbrella stroller to the $400 Maclaren strollers). It was pricey, but it was tall and easy to push for DH. I was shocked when I found out that they all pitched in at my old office and bought us the stroller, so generous of them. DH and I are going to take them a tray of something tasty on Friday to say Thank You!
This is my last week of work, and it is dragging! I left early yesterday, am working a full day today, half day tomorrow, full day Thursday and undecided on Friday. DH has an appointment up north that he would like me to go to. I'm not sure if I'm up to the 2 hour ride or not. I'll have to see how I'm feeling. The c-section is scheduled for Tuesday. I am so looking forward to being a Mom!
We picked up and ordered the last of the baby items we needed. I ordered my Moby wrap and the diaper pail liners we need to start cloth diapering. They should be here by Saturday. We have the car seat that will be installed tonight as long as the rain holds off for a little while. The pack n play is up and ready, along with the swing in the living room. The in-laws came by this weekend to see baby girls room. It is a very pretty room. I'll post pictures as soon as I find the cord that goes from my camera to the computer! I am missing that and the charger for the camcorder. I'm sure they will turn up this week.
DH and I have spent the last 2-3 weeks deep cleaning the house. I was on my hands and knees scrubbing the bathroom baseboards and floor downstairs. I feel like I need to do it again! This weekend we just need to vacuum, dust and clean the bathrooms again. Even when they are freshly cleaned I feel like the bathroom is dirty. As soon as I clean the shower it has soap scum on the doors. Such a PITA!
I have been having contractions on and off the last couple of days. Some with pain, some not. I'm going to ask the OB tomorrow. We go in for our last ultrasound and appointment tomorrow afternoon. I am looking forward to seeing baby girl again and seeing how much she is weighing. I'm anticipating she'll be around 8 lbs at birth. She's going to be perfect!
Well, I will update after my appointment, or after we have her! I hope everyone is well!

19 Days!
19 Days! I can't believe it. I'm still in denial I think. I haven't packed a bag yet. The car seat is still in the box in the front hallway waiting to be installed. The house needs to be cleaned. And I'm not motivated in the least to get it done!
I think my Dad and stepmom are coming to visit this weekend, and I also think the IL's are going to come down to check out baby girls room. We finally got it finished, including cleaning out her closet. We put her name on the wall and have basically everything ready for her to come home to. We just need a clean house!
I'm hoping both visits go well, but chances of that are slim. We can only hope to avoid a collision of epic proportions.
Our weekly appointment went OK yesterday, baby girl is doing so well. She got an 8/8 again on her bpp. They are estimating her weight to be 6 lbs 7 oz at 36 weeks. This makes her right on track for 8 pounds at birth. She is going to be perfect! My blood pressure was slightly elevated again, so I went in this morning for more bloodwork. Hopefully everything comes back OK.
I check my blood pressure at home and it is fine, but for some reason at their office the last 3 weeks it's been high. Could be my annoyance at waiting in a hot stuffy room for hours, or the rude nurses, or the too small arm cuff they use on me. Makes you wonder, huh?
Next week I am taking my machine in with me to show the doctor that it is fine at home. 19 more days!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to their New Year. I am so grateful for everything that my husband and I have been blessed with and I can only hope and pray that this year will be better!

36 Weeks!
Oh how nice it is to know that we will be snuggling our tiny little one in 21 days! We have a c-section scheduled for January 25th and I am so looking forward to meeting baby girl. We finished her room (for the most part!), and we are just working on deep cleaning one room at a time from now until she is born. I have lists upon lists at home of stuff that needs to be taken care of or purchased in the next 21 days.
Christmas was nice, we didn't get to see my family at all. My Dad got a horrible case of the flu and bronchitis, so he didn't want me to be around him in case I got it. They might come see us this weekend. We spent the day with DH's family. We got so much stuff. A new griddle for the kitchen, a digital picture frame, new clippers for me to cut DH's hair and I got my new purse!! So beautiful! DH got me our diaper bag and I got him a new hoodie and a CD that hasn't even shipped yet from Amazon! I am getting so frustrated with it! I ordered it on December 14th with an expected delivery date of December 24th. Nothing yet! If it wasn't his favorite band I would cancel the order.
SIL and my brother both gave us BRU giftcards for Christmas so we were able to get the last minute stuff we needed. I feel better now that most everything has been purchased. I still have a few things to buy, but am hoping that the money situation gets a little better before we have to buy more stuff.
We had so much snow here last weekend, I had to take Monday off as a snow day. That, along with taking Tuesday off so we could go to DH's doctor about his back really screwed up my paycheck. It was less than half of what it normally is and came at a really crappy time of the month (rent time!), so we are struggling right now. We have to make it to Friday with 1/4 tank of gas and whatever food is in the pantry and freezer. It's going to be a struggle, but we've been through worse.
I am now going to weekly ultrasounds and appointments on Wednesdays, but had to get bloodwork done and go in for an appointment yesterday too because my blood pressure was a little high last week. The office called me to ask me if I could come in early for my scan and appointment because the midwife was on call and needed to leave the office earlier than my scheduled appointment of 3:30 PM. Luckily, I was home at 2 and able to be there by 2:30 PM. I went in and was taken back for my scan. Everything was fine, baby girl is doing well. Passed her bpp with an 8/8 and we were sent into the waiting room to wait for the midwife. They took me back about 15 minutes later and put me into the hottest room in the office that smelled like cigarettes and cheap cologne. Made me want to throw up. We sat in that stinky hot room for an hour waiting for the midwife. It was 4 PM before she came in the room. I was so mad and irritated at this point. She leaned on the counter, thanked me for my patience and told me the baby is fine. Then informed me that since my blood pressure was a little high I needed to come back on Monday for a follow up after I went to the lab for bloodwork. WTF lady. I went the next morning and got my bloodwork done. Left work early to meet with the OB. My blood pressure is fine. The OB's office on the other hand is on my last damn pregnant nerve. If I wasn't 36 weeks pregnant I'd probably start looking for a new doctor.
Another thing that really frustrated me was the fact that every appointment after 30 weeks, I've been told to do my kick counts. If baby girl didn't move 10 times in 2 hours, or 5 times in 20 minutes after eating I was to go right into the hospital. Never had a problem with this before. I know my childs movements and on Thursday night she was not moving normally. She moved 3 times in 3 hours. I ate dinner, drank cold water, drank cold iced tea. Nothing. So, DH and I decided better to be safe than sorry and headed into L&D. I was told to not even call on-call about mvoements, just head straight in. Now, keep in mind that this is a pretty small hospital in a resort area in the off season. You go into the emergency room entrance and check in there. There was 1 person in the emergency waiting area. Nothing like a hospital in the city. We went in and checked in. They took me right upstairs to L&D. I was told to put on a gown, so I went into the bathroom to pee. DH was sitting there when he heard the nurse around the corner tell someone she didn't have time for this crap right before she walked in and asked where I was. DH said, in the bathroom. She stormed out and sent someone else in. I was hooked up to the monitors and the RN came back in. She asked me why I had come in, and when I told her that baby girl moved 3 times in 3 hours she looked at me like I was an idiot! That's plenty of movement, she told me! Well, the doctors office told me to come in if we didn't feel 10 in 2 hours, blah, blah, blah. So, after being on the monitor for an hour baby girl started moving. 10 minutes later she discharged me and handed me a paper that said any movement in 12 hours was fine.
I am so frustrated and confused. Why are the L&D people and the OB's office not on the same page when it comes to movement? I understand they are busy people, but this is my child we're talking about. If I have to show up to L&D every darn day until she is born, I will! Vent over!
13 more work days until I go on maternity leave. I am so ready to be done. I am cranky and tired. It bothers my hip to sit here all day. I'm just blah.
So, tomorrow I will be back at the OB's office, but this time we get to see baby girl instead of just listen to her heartbeat. I'm excited to see how much she has grown and how ready she is to join the world!
Happy New Year!!!
