34 Weeks

We went in this morning for our first bio physical profile of little one.  She did awesome.  She got an 8/8 (meaning she did her practice breathing, moved all her limbs and just basically looked good!).  My blood pressure is fine, I lost 2 lbs this week.  Basically the doctor said my pregnancy is going as well as we can hope!
Maddie is weighing in at 5 lbs 6 oz, making her the perfect 50th percentile!  Her heartbeat was 149 bpm.  She looked great.  She gave us an awesome full face picture and a really good profile picture as well.  I need to put them on the computer.
We are looking forward to meeting her in 34 days.  My c-section is still scheduled for January 25th, and as long as she keeps growing well she should weigh in around 8 to 8 1/2 pounds.  A little smaller than I thought, but perfect!!
I am finishing up my little bit of Christmas shopping that I am doing, just have 2 more items to buy.  We are going to visit family on Saturday.  The OB said it was fine for me to travel the 2 hours north, just as long as I didn't try to come back 2 hours if I needed to go to the hospital!  He also said that I should not hesitate if I need to go to the hospital for any reason.  He was adamant that I could go everyday if I felt like it, just as long as I went!  There have been a few times where I've contemplated asking DH to take me, but baby girl either moved or I felt better within a few minutes.  I had terrible pain in my upper back and chest last night.  i thought for sure I was having a heart attack or something!  Turned out to be gas!  I can understand why people go to the hospital for a heart attack and it ends up being heartburn or gas.  I was terrified and in so much pain.
I have 19 more days of work left before my maternity leave starts.  I am planning on working through the 21st (Friday), and then taking that weekend and Monday as the start of my leave before the c-section on Tuesday.  It will be nice to have a few days at home, just DH and I getting the last of the baby stuff done.  I'm not sure how much I'll be up to doing, but hopefully we can get it all done in time.
I have my appointment with the lactation consultant and the hospital tour on Tuesday, my next OB and bio physical profile on Wednesday.  Every Wednesday until I give birth I will have a scan and an OB appointment.  I'm looking forward to seeing baby girl and making sure she grows well.
I hope everyone has a Wonderful Christmas and spends lots of time with loved ones!

Snow!

We finally have some snow!  It just doesn't feel like winter without snow!  It is currently snowing (and has been for about 3 hours now) outside while I am sitting at my desk at work.  I am getting concerned about the roads and will probably leave a snidge early today.  I see cars going by, and each one is going slower and slower.  I am afraid the roads are going to be slick.  We're supposed to get an inch or so.  Not much, but it's something!
33 weeks pregnant and I feel great!  My hips are still bothering me a lot, but I just keep telling myself it will only be a matter of time before baby girl is here!  I have been having a lot of braxton hicks contractions and have tried to keep hydrated as well as I can.  We had to reschedule our lactation consultant appointment for the end of the month.  We are going to do our hospital tour that day as well.  I am going in for my 34 week scan and appointment next week.  I'm excited to see baby girl again and know that she is growing well.
I am so not ready for Christmas.  Even though we really aren't doing gifts for anyone this year, money is just too tight, I still feel like we should be doing something!  No tree, no decorations, no baking.  It's kind of sad!  I am planning on making DH some cookies tonight, but I just don't have the energy to sit at the stove all day.  When I try to cook dinner or bake something I end up dizzy and feeling sick to my stomach.  I think it's a combination of the heat and the pain in my hips (it goes down through my thigh into my knee!).
Baby girl is really moving around these days, she keeps me up!  I was awake last night from about 3 am to 5:30 or so.  Baby girl was not happy with me, she kicked hard!
I am so excited to go out in the snow, but hopefully the roads are OK!  Stay safe and have a wonderful holiday!

32 weeks!

32 weeks and baby girl's heartrate was 154 bpm yesterday at the OB.  Mommy gained 2 lbs, blood pressure is good and sugars are still good.  We got some unexpected, exciting news at the doctor's office.  We will be getting weekly ultrasounds to check baby girl's growth starting at our 34 week appointment.  We get these scans because I have a lap band, and also because of my weight.
My surprise baby shower was this weekend.  It was beautiful!  My MIL and SIL threw the shower and it was really nice.  The food was awesome, and the decorations were so stinkin cute.  It was baby pooh theme and I loved it!  Baby girl got tons of gifts, including the movement monitor and the jumper we had on the registry.  We also got tons of books, 3 people made the baby homemade blankets, lots of cute clothes and a bunch of other useful stuff (lotions, nail clippers, brushes).  It was a really nice day.
Now we are just settling into the reality that in a few short weeks we are going to be welcoming the most beautiful baby girl into the world.  It is amazing how quickly time is flying by.  We tentatively scheduled a c-section for January 21st.  Baby girl is still breech and we will keep an eye on her as she grows through those weekly ultrasounds.
Right now I am working on my Christmas cards and my thank you cards!  Lots of stamps will be purchased next week.  I'm hoping to get everything out by next Wednesday.  We have a few hectic weekends coming up, so I'm planning on relaxing when I can!  I want to enjoy the last few weeks of my pregnancy while I still can!  Before you know it, I won't be pregnant anymore!

31 Weeks!

31 weeks pregnant.  I never thought I'd actually be able to be here.  Even after we passed the 12 week mark, there was the 20 week ultrasound, the 24 week viability marker and now 31 weeks.  8 weeks until our c-section.  2 months.  It seems like a dream.  I feel so blessed to be pregnant and feeling baby girl kick around and live it up inside.  I just can't seem to wrap my mind around the fact that in 2 short months I'm going to be a Mommy.  DH is going to be a Daddy.  It's amazing.  Time goes so fast that I worry about not being able to enjoy it.
I'm dealing with a few stressors as the time quickly approaches.  Christmas always causes me stress.  I worry about what to get people, who and when we are going to see, what am I going to wear?  We've always tried to be generous with our gifts because we feel so blessed with what we have, but this year has been hard for us.  DH's workers comp got cut in half, and with him unable to find a new job we are working with half his income and my income.  My hours have been cut back at work making it hard for us to just remain afloat every month.  The bills are paid, rent is paid but that leaves us very little to work with as far as gift money.  We've already told everyone that we don't need anything, we would rather the focus be on baby girl.  It's not about us anymore, it's about the baby.  We are doing 1 small gift per person this year.  I just bought DH's gift from Amazon.  I used my swagbucks to get gift cards for Amazon, so DH's gift actually only cost me $7.90 (It is a $65 hoodie).  Love swagbucks!
We are also still dealing with the idea of moving.  I know we have to, we just don't want to.  Our rent is going to increase by at least $300 a month (if not more!), not to mention the expense of moving.  I'm keeping my eye out for a good deal on rent for a single family house in that area, but the lowest I've found is $1250 a month.  I was hoping to rent something for around $1000.  We'd have to cut back more, but it would be feasible.
We decided to leave the Christmas decorations away this year, as much as I would love to decorate our home I just don't have the energy.  So, no tree, no lights, no wreaths.  Our house will be the sad house on the block.  I am going to hang up the stockings though.  I need some ideas on stocking stuffers for DH.  Maybe a DVD or something will be good.
Our next appointment is next Wednesday, and I get to schedule the c-section then.  Hopefully things continue to go smoothly and we'll have a bundle of joy at the end of January!

30 Weeks!

We are 30 weeks pregnant!  I am excited and the doctors are pleased with how this pregnancy is going.  Baby girl is growing well, and her heart was beating last night at 142 BPM.  She was kicking and punching the doppler the whole time.  Baby girl is not a fan of the doppler or ultrasound.  She gets feisty.
I passed my gestational diabetes test, have actually lost 2 pounds in 2 weeks and my blood pressure is perfect!  I think when the doctors see an overweight patient come in they expect all the worst things to happen.  I have surprised them all.  Now, I do have 9 more weeks to go before my c-section and anything can happen, but for now baby girl and I are doing great.  I go back in 2 more weeks and will schedule my c-section then.
I did purchase Maddie's very first tutu from a great lady on Etsy on Friday.  I received it Monday and it is the darn cutest thing you have ever seen in your life!  It's brown and pink with a brown bow.  I can't wait to see her in it!
I also went on a shopping spree at BabiesRus for clothes.  I went crazy!  She has lots of pink and purple clothes now.  And the cutest Amy Coe pink skull hoodie and sweatpant set.  Love it!  The great thing was, most of the clothes were on clearance with an extra 30% off, so I got 3 huge bags of clothes and a cute pair of leather shoes for $60.  Amazing.
Well, 69 days to go!  We are ready!

Beautiful Baby!

I am so excited to announce that baby showed the goods yesterday!  Mommy and Daddy are thrilled to announce that we are expecting our beautiful baby girl!  She is gorgeous and we finally got a full face picture.  She was being stubborn with some of the shots, but we were finally able to get all the good pictures of her heart, and she is weighing in at 3 lbs 2 oz.
Our families are so excited and we all cannot wait until baby girl is born.  I am scheduling the c-section at my 30 week appointment next week, it should be at the end of January.  The doctor asked me if I had taken my GD sugar test yet, I'm thinking it's because the baby is measuring a little on the big side for her gestational age.  I told him I passed with flying colors!
All the kids my Mom had were over 8 lbs at birth, and I was darn close to 10 lbs!  Actually 9 lbs 15 oz, so I was kind of expecting a chunky baby.  Her cheeks are the cutest, and again she spent a lot of the time with her hands in her mouth.  I think she'll be a thumb sucker, just like Mommy!
We will be naming her Madison.  Although we are stuck on the middle names.  I would like to name her after my Mom and DH's Mom.  But, it is going to make baby girls name super long with 2 middle names so we are still contemplating.
I am off to search for baby girl's very first tutu!

Almost 29 weeks!

We will be 29 weeks pregnant tomorrow.  I am so super excited, and so excited to see how little one is growing on Wednesday!  I also have an appointment to get my hair cut on Wednesday.  The last time I got a haircut was March 13th.  It was right after my surgery and I just needed something.  I'm not going quite as short this time.  Just to the nape of my neck in the back.  I'm going to keep the front longer (I think my face looks better framed with hair).
In other news, I am having a baby shower!  I don't know when or where, but I know my mother in law and sister in law are throwing it.  My Grandmother from Virginia isn't going to be able to make it, I'm a little sad about that.  It is a long drive though, and she is working so hard.  We've decided that little one will call her GeeGee and her husband Poppy.  I just met them a few years ago, she is my Mom's birthmom and I am so lucky to have them in my life.  They are really wonderful people, and they are going to be so good for the baby to have around.
I am hoping the ultrasound goes well on Wednesday, baby has been moving like crazy.  We were sitting on the couch relaxing yesterday afternoon when the baby started flipping around.  DH was looking at my belly when all of a sudden he just saw it start moving.  He was amazed.  It is wonderful to see his face when he feels little one move, or sees my belly moving.  It is finally starting to sink in that we are going to have this little bundle of joy in just a little while!
The doctor said we are going to schedule the c-section at our next appointment.  That will be November 23rd.  He said we will aim for 39 weeks, which would put us right at January 25th.  Or 71 days from now!
DH said this pregnancy seems to be going so quick for him.  I just have to laugh!  It is stretching out for me.  I am in so much pain, it is hard for me to sit, walk, lay down, stand.  I am having such a hard time sleeping, everytime I have to turn over (which is often!) I wake up cause it hurts me so much.
It is all well worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat.  I just can't wait to have this little one here in our arms.
We still don't know the sex of the baby, and we are leaving it up to this little one to show us or not at our ultrasound!  We've waited 29 weeks, what's 10 more?  I know if baby wants us to know, (s)he will show us!  I'm betting on crossed legs and not one little peek!
I will certainly update on Thursday with new pictures!

28 Weeks!

We are 28 weeks, it is amazing.  I am feeling this little one move so much it is crazy!  When I lay down at night to try and sleep, the baby feels like an acrobat.  Flipping around, moving from one side to another, up and down.  Daddy got to feel the baby doing some moving the other night, he was excited.
We got the crib mattress last weekend from the IL's and we are busy getting things together for the nursery.  We are also busy trying to find a new place to live before this little one comes into the world.  Yes, we are moving again.  Circumstances this time are beyond our control, and let me just say I am not happy about it.  Actually, I am quite miserable and not looking forward to packing up my whole house again.  let's hope we can get settled somewhere for an extended period of time, because this moving every year thing sucks big time.
Well, with Thanksgiving and Christmas on the horizon I anticipate a very full couple of months.  I'm sure we will be busy traveling to see family and spend time with everyone.
I am going in for my level 2 ultrasound on the 17th.  I am looking forward to seeing little one again, as we will be 29 weeks and I'm sure little one will be more like big one now!  I just hope they can see everything they need to see this time and we can be assured that the baby is growing well.
Have a wonderful week!  I will update after my level 2, and Yay for me!  I passed my 1 hour glucose, so no stinking 3 hour glucose test!!

Just a thought for today!

A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for.

Just a few pictures!

Well, we are 26 weeks pregnant.  Things are going smoothly.  I had an episode of high blood pressure but it has since gone way down.  I am getting ready to do my 1 hour glucose test next week, and looking forward to our level 2 ultrasound on November 17th!  I am also so looking forward to the holidays, spending time with family and eating!  I never want to eat anything, and nothing tastes the same.
I am going to just post a couple of pictures of the nursery.  We have all the furniture set up including the bassinet.  I am slowly adding to my stash of cloth diapers, as you will see.  Baby already has plenty of clothing, just need to add some gender specific stuff in there.  Well, I have another follow up for my blood pressure next week, then my 28 week OB appointment, and my level 2 ultrasound in a few weeks.  It is keeping us busy!
The pictures are as follows:  The crib (minus the mattress and bedding set which we don't have yet), the bassinet, pooh, tigger and the baby's coming home blanket keeping the bassinet nice and toasty until little one shows up, dresser/changer and baby's laundry basket, the mural of removable decals above the baby's changer, the dresser with baby's first pooh piggy bank and the pooh and friends ginormous soft stacker, our cloth diaper stash which includes 19 cloth diapers and 30 liners, all the baby's towels and washcloths, hats, booties and bibs followed by the drawer of newborn and 0-3 month clothes (the gowns in the left side of the picture are my favorite!), 3-6 month clothes (and some 6-9 month as well), and fianlly!  The snuggly little white fuzzy bear outfit that baby will wear when we leave the hospital.   I didn't include pictures of the car seat and high chair because they are still in the boxes.
We are so excited and ready to welcome our little one in just 98 days!

Almost there!

I know I have lots of weeks to go, but I look forward to hitting the 24 week mark.  6 more days.
I go in for my OB appointment next week, and I am hoping for a quick peek at the baby.  Baby has been kicking around like crazy, but is still so low.  It really feels like I'm being kicked right in the cervix.  Sometimes it's painful, but usually it just makes me feel like I'm going to pee myself!  I still don't think I look pregnant.  DH says I do, but I still have a B belly, so I think I just look chunk.
We put the baby's bassinet together this weekend, and I have big plans to deep clean this weekend.  I doubt it will happen, but a girl can plan, right?  I am still contemplating on when to put the baby's furniture together.  It's going to take us a whole day to get all three pieces put together, but I don't know if I feel like it right now.
On another note, last week it was 90 degrees and humid as crap outside, this week.....40 degrees and rainy!  What the heck with the weather?  I went from flip flops and gaucho's to sweaters and clogs in 1 day!  It is crazy.
I'll update after my OB appointment!  Also, we are meeting with the Pediatrician on Monday, I want to make sure we pick a good one!

21 Weeks and Level 2 Ultrasound

We have made it to 21 weeks!  I am so excited.  Our little one weighs 1 lb and it doing well!  We went in for a level 2 ultrasound yesterday to check on baby's heart.  They couldn't get good pictures because the baby is breech and my placenta is anterior (on the top of my uterus).  So, we went 2 hours north to the maternal fetal medicine place for a level 2 scan.  I laid on the table for 1 1/2 hours while 3 seperate people poked my belly with the ultrasound wand and we still couldn't get any shots!
Baby is showing us who's boss around here.  No determining the gender again!  3 ultrasounds now, and no gender shots!  What gives?  We got some beautiful profile shots though and baby was kicking like crazy!  It was weird to see the arm or leg move and feel it at the same time.  Baby was not happy with us for putting them through another ultrasound.
We go back in 8 weeks!  8 weeks!  Who waits that long?  It'll be the week before Thanksgiving before we get to see baby again.  Frustrating!  I do go to the OB in 3 weeks so maybe he'll get us in for a regular scan and we can see something!  It is nice to know that the baby is growing well, and doing well.
I am going to post some pictures of the baby.  All side profiles since that is all baby will give us!  In one the baby is laughing at us, it's almost like she's saying HAHA!  You're trying to get pictures of me?  I don't think so!  And of course we have a hand in the mouth picture.  Baby loves to suck on his hand.

18 weeks!

We are officially 18 weeks pregnant today!  I have been making myself crazy worrying and worrying about the baby.  We are almost halfway there and I am feeling great!  We had an OB appointment yesterday and the doctor had a difficult time finding the heartbeat on the doppler.  After a few minutes of moving around and pushing (really hard!), he decided an ultrasound would be better.  Well, wouldn't it figure that the ultrasound lady was walking out the door.  The computers were shut down and her office was empty!  Luckily he was able to catch her at the door and we were able to catch a glimpse of our beautiful little dumpling.  The baby's heart was beating at 151 bpm, and we felt so much relief!
DH's birthday was on Sunday and I think he had a nice weekend.  He went to the UFC fan expo in Boston on Friday and met his favorite fighter.  Mike Swick autographed something for him, and personalized it for him.  I think that was cool of him to do.  DH said all the fighters and everyone who worked there were all very nice and talked with him.  DH's family came down on Saturday.  We had dinner of mac and cheese and ham steaks with his Mom and Dad, his sister and of course, our nephew.  He is getting to be such a big guy.  He's 2 1/2 and just growing!  He loves to go swimming so Mom-Mom and I took him over to the pool on Saturday and DH and I took him over on Sunday.
I took yesterday off to spend the day with DH to complete his birthday weekend, and he took me to Babiesrus!  he knows how much I love to go and look at all the baby stuff.  We took an old stroller we had with us and traded it in for 25% off of something.  You can only use the coupon on certain things, and the only thing on the whole list that we still needed was the car seat.  So we went back and looked at the car seats.  We were stuck between 3 different ones.  I knew we wanted a convertible, one that would go from 5 lbs up to 60 or so pounds.  I also wanted an extended rear facing car seat.  We finally decided on the Evenflo Triumph LX Convertible Car Seat in Oh!  It is a gorgeous seat and will work well with either sex.
We also decided last night that we are not going to find out the sex of the baby.  After a lot of thinking and talking about it, we decided it is the last big surprise in life and it won't change anything either way!  We are going to be ecstatic no matter what we have, and all of our baby gear is gender neutral.  I also have quite a few gender neutral outfits hanging in the closet already and a go home outfit, so we don't have any good reason to find out!  We just want to be surprised!
ALSO!  I lost a pound!  Which means in the 18 weeks of my pregnancy so far, I have only gained 4 pounds!  And my blood pressure is a perfect 120/80!  So I am feeling good and hoping the rest of my pregnancy goes well!

16 week ultrasound!

We got our long awaited 16 week ultrasound yesterday, and I am so happy to announce that things are going well!  Our little dumpling is growing big and strong.  Weighed in at 6 oz, measuring 16 weeks, 4 days.  Heart was beating at 150 bpm, which is a little slower than we are used to, but normal!  We were able to see 2 arms, 2 hands, 2 legs and 2 feet.  We have a 3 vessel cord which is wonderful and no signs of any problems or issues.  I had refused all prenatal testing as far as bloodwork, amnio's and a cvs.  The ultrasound tech did measure the nuchal fold, which was 2.54.  I think they measure it and just don't tell you, but I knew what she was doing.  I've been going back and forth on getting the AFP bloodwork to check for things like spina bifida and down syndrome.  The problem I have with these types of tests are the false positives.  I do not want to spend my pregnancy needlessly worrying about whether my baby might have a problem or might not.  I have the bloodwork slip, and it needs to be done before 20 weeks, so I have approx. 3 weeks to decide.  I guess I'll decide and have it done around the 30th which is my next OB appointment.
I am also so excited to inform you that I have only gained 5 lbs this whole pregnancy.  I didn't gain anything from my appointment 3 weeks ago to yesterday.  I have been eating like a crazy lady so I was very surprised!  I would be happy to not gain anything the whole pregnancy, but I have a feeling I'll be packing on the pounds in a few months!
Next: 2 pictures of our beautiful little baby!

Disappointing 1st OB appointment

Well, I was unimpressed with the new OB's office I picked.  They were very friendly, but made us wait a long time in the room.  I met a midwife who tried to find the baby's heartbeat on the doppler, but couldn't.  Then she asked me to wait 5 weeks to schedule an ultrasound!  Crazy!  You know my history and you have to understand that I am a worrier.  It's what I do, constantly!  Worry, worry, worry.  So should I worry for the next 5 weeks?  No my friend, I will not.  So, I scheduled an ultrasound for the 18th, and will get another one around 20 weeks if all goes well.  I'm hoping they can see the gender at the scan on the 18th, as I will be 16 weeks (but since I have been measuring 5 days ahead, the baby should be 16 weeks, 5 days or so).
So now with nothing to occupy my time except work and home, I'm stressing.  I should have pushed for an earlier scan, or should have pushed to try longer with the doppler.
We shall see what happens in 19 days.

Friday, July 23, 2010

So last night DH and I went to the store to look for a couple of things.  As you know, I am obssesive about baby stuff so the first and only place I go to is the baby section.  I end up buying 3 things.  A piggy bank (yellow with pooh bear and a dragonfly), a nursing pillow, and a baby's 1st year calendar with stickers.  We got good deals on all of it and the more we buy now, the less we have to buy later!

Something funny happened when we got home from the store.  I, of course, take everything out to look at it and start looking at the calendar.  I flip to the back to look at all the stickers and immediately get sad.  On the Visiting Grandparents sticker there is a dragonfly.  I start to cry and DH says that means that your Mom is here.  She loved dragonflies and winnie the pooh.  She even had a Pooh tattoo.  It just means so much that that particular sticker has a dragonfly.  None of the other ones did, just that one.  Prettty amazing, right?

We also decided to change the nursery set to something gender neutral.  DH and I went to BabiesRus the other weekend to take a look at car seats and cribs.  He went to the back to sit in the recliners and gliders while I looked at the clothing and when I went to the back to get him to go home he said, I think I want to change the bedding.  We had originally picked sports for a boy and dragonflies for a girl.  Well they had this beautiful classic Winnie the Pooh bedding set that just looked gorgeous.  It was very gender neutral and had not only classic pooh, but dragonflies on it as well.  I fell in love with it.  We ended up buying the wall decals that night so we could see how it would look.  I think it is going to be wonderful!  Now, I will leave you with some pictures.
This is the new bedding:

Also, the nursing pillow I picked up last night, very soft and cuddly:

Hopefully, I can curb my spending and not pick anything else up this month!

12 weeks, 5 days....2nd trimester here we come!

Ok, so today I am 12 weeks, 6 days....but the baby measured 12 weeks, 5 days yesterday!  Growing perfectly and very content to relax and wallow in my belly!  The doctor even said we must have rocked the baby to sleep before our appointment.  She was as relaxed as you can get.  Heart was beating at a wonderful 161 bpm, and it took a little while to get her to wiggle around.  She was waving at us and sucking on her hand.  It was marvelous to watch!  I am so blessed to have an RE's office that cares so much, they let us just sit there and watch the baby for a little while.  It was an amazing experience.  On that note, yesterday was my last appointment at the RE's!  I officially graduated from their office yesterday.  Measuring ahead and baby is doing great.  I have my first OB appointment next Thursday, it is going to be strange to not get an ultrasound every week now!  Hopefully we get to hear the heartbeat next Thursday at least.  I will be a nervous wreck all the time!  Tomorrow I will officially be in my 2nd trimester, and it feels wonderful!  I will keep you updated on appointments and such, but am just going to enjoy being pregnant!  I am busy buying stuff and planning on the future.  We got the highchair this week, it was delivered yesterday.  I can't wait to set up the bassinett, I figure I'll get DH to do that around 20 weeks or so.  It is exciting to think in less than 200 days we'll have our baby!  I'm planning on end of January, not beginning of February now.
Little legs, pot belly and ankles crossed!

11 weeks 5 days!

We are measuring ahead, 11 weeks 5 days.  That would make me 12 weeks tomorrow!  I am getting so excited.  We were able to see the baby moving around and dancing.  Baby kept looking right at the ultrasound like what the heck is that!  We also got a cute butt shot.  Baby mooned us!  We are feeling so blessed right now (as usual!).  The only complaint I have is that I am sore!  The right side of my body is sore!  I haven't done anything out of the ordinary, so I'm not sure what the problem is!  Oh well!  Some new pictures of our cutie patootie to enjoy!  My last RE appointment is next Wednesday...the I graduate to the regular OB!  Yay!  I'm excited!

9 weeks!

We have officially made it to 9 weeks, 2 days!  It is a wonderful thing.  The heart was beating at 170 bpm, and the doctors office said it would be fine to wait 2 weeks to come back in.  So, my next ultrasound is July 14.  They also asked me to think about whether we want to get the 1st trimester screening or not.  They would do the ultrasound and the bloodwork between 11 and 13 weeks.  The next time I go in I should be 11 weeks 2 days, so I may just get it done.  It won't matter what the results say, I will have our baby whether they find something or not.  There is a reason why we have been blessed with this baby, so any "issues" that come up, we will deal with!  We love our tiny little baby so much!

We heard the heartbeat!

We are so excited to share that we heard our tiny little ones heartbeat today!  It was beating away at 163 BPM.  The doctor said normal is anywhere between 130 and 180, so we are doing well.  We also measured at 8 weeks 2 days this morning, so the baby is growing perfectly.  We go in again next Wednesday for another ultrasound, so hopefully our little miracle keeps growing away!
I made my first OB appointment for July 29th, and I will be about 13 weeks pregnant.  I am just about 27 days away from 2nd trimester, and I can't wait!  I am so exhausted all the time.  And hungry!
I feel so blessed to be given this beautiful little miracle growing inside me, I am just sending my prayers everyday.  4 years ago around this time, we found out our little one stopped growing at 8 weeks and was no longer with us.  We were devastated, but we are so grateful to be given this opportunity again.
I will update again after our next ultrasound!

2nd ultrasound!

We had our second ultrasound done yesterday, and the doctor said the baby looks great!  The heart was just beating away.  It was a beautiful sight!  This time, you can actually see a baby!  I am beyond ecstatic!  I cannot wait to meet our little miracle baby in a few months.  The doctor isn't coming down to this office next week, so I am driving up 2 hours to his office up north in order to get an ultrasound done.  I thought I might be OK to wait until the week after, but I am stressing as it is just waiting a week!  Well, here is our tiny little baby!

Look what we made!

We have a heartbeat, and a beautiful 6 week 1 day baby growing!
We go back in 1 week to look at our beautiful baby!

Went a little crazy!

So, I know it is super early and we are just getting to 6 weeks pregnant, but DH and I went a little crazy this weekend at BabiesRus!  Or should I say, I went a little crazy!  We picked out our crib and furniture for the nursery.  We have a wonderful registry set up on Amazon and BabiesRus and JCPenney!
I did purchase the bassinet, which I love and can't wait to see in person.  We also bought a whole crap load of our Method Baby soap and lotions.
I love this stuff, it smells so nice.  I love that it is 99% natural ingredients too.
method baby Squeaky Green Hair + Body Wash, Rice Milk + Mallow 8 fl oz (236 ml)
I was able to find a whole set of body wash, lotion, diaper rash cream, method baby laundry detergent, hand soap and cleaner for $15!  What a deal!
I washed the clothes we bought yesterday in the laundry detergent, and they smell so good!
method Laundry Detergent, For Baby, 32 Loads 32 oz (946 ml)
I had a coupon for detergent so I got a bottle fo regular method laundry detergent to use on our clothes, and I like it.
I just keep hoping that everything goes well, and I am so excited about our ultrasound on Wednesday.  It's not until about 3 in the afternoon, so it is going to be forever!  I will keep you updated and I really hope everything goes really well!

It's official!

We saw the doctor yesterday and it is official! My hcg was greater than 3000, which is wonderful! My progesterone was 19, which is perfectly normal. I am on progesterone supplements though to make sure it doesn't drop and cause a miscarriage.
We are sending up prayers everyday for our little bean to stay in there and grow big and strong. I am terrified to have another miscarriage, but I am also trying so hard to enjoy being pregnant! This time it is a wonderful, joyful experience and I want to be a happy pregnant lady.
I go in for an ultrasound next week (Wednesday) and I will be exactly 6 weeks. Hopefully we can see our little bean and maybe a heartbeat!!! I will keep you updated and let you know how telling our families goes. We have some really cute ideas and hopefully I can post some pictures.

I will tell you that I purchased a bassinet for myself today. I had to have it, and it is on sale! they don't sell it at babies r us anymore, and it has been slowly disappearing from other sites, so I figured by the time we have our baby in February it may not be available! So, I did it! I bought it! And I am glad I did!

Isn't it beautiful? Have a wonderful week and I will update after my ultrasound!!!

Doctor's appointment

Well, I had another doctor's appointment yesterday and lo and behold......I didn't gain or lose a single pound in 3 weeks! We decided it was time for a fill! I was freaked out about it, but it didn't hurt one little bit. It sounded weird, but didn't hurt. I got 3 cc's put in my band and am on soft chewable foods today. I had a protein drink this morning and a yogurt. I have chili for lunch and then I'll see how I feel.
I'm hoping to join the gym this week or next and get our rear ends over there!
We went to visit with my Momma and say Happy Birthday and it looked like a tornando hit her area! Both windchimes were mangled on the ground (broken beyond repair), her flag was bleached and beat up from the sun and wind and her statue was tipped over. The winnie the pooh wind sock was no where to be found. It was a good thing I brought a new windchime and flag for her! We are currently looking for ideas on how to make her beach better. Right now she has sand from Florida in front of the headstone. We have the black weed paper underneath and a green plastic thing in a circle in front holding the sand in. The sand just looks bad, it gets all nasty. We are trying to think of a way to make it look better. Dave said maybe get a plastic container and make a beach scene and put it in front. I just don't know! We will figure it out!
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Sad day

Today is my beautiful Momma's birthday! I love and miss her so much. It is tearing me up inside. It will be 7 years in June that she passed away and so much has changed. I so desperately want her to be here. I wanted her to meet Dave and to be here when we had our miscarriage. I want her to be around for her grandbabies (if we are blessed enough!). I'm just having a tough time, I feel so angry. The range of emotions that I am dealing with today is incredible. I am sad, angry, pissed off, frustrated, terrified and everything in between!

I am so scared that I will forget her, that our babies will never know what a wonderful person she was. Sometimes I feel like the only person in the world who thinks about her (although I know that is so not true)

Nobody really knows this, but I have 3 younger siblings. They are my mom and ex step dad's kids. I haven't seen them since the summer my Mom passed away. So every year it's like remembering not just 1 person I love, but 3 more. I wish I could see them but circumstances between their father and me are not good. When my Mom passed my youngest brother was only 5. My sister was 7 and my brother was 9. They were so little, and I worry that they won't remember or know who she was. They need to know that she was a wonderful, caring, beautiful woman who loved her kids more than life. She wanted to do nothing more than take care of her kids and give them everything. We struggled, money was always an issue, but we wanted for nothing. She always made sure we had what we needed. So today is the day we all say Happy Birthday to the best Mom in the world. The one I emulate and I hope to be like her if we are blessed with babies.

Happy Birthday Mom!!!

Blah, blah, blah

I am just having a blah week. Nothing exciting happening (besides our 1st anniversary on Monday), and not feeling great. I just feel blah. I am excited about our anniversary and I can't wait to enjoy our night out and our day together and the gifts! We are going out to dinner the night before, then on Monday I am taking a half day and we are just going to relax and celebrate just the 2 of us. I will make a nice dinner and we will eat our cake and open presents!
I think I am feeling so blah because we have yet another month down. It is officially cycle number 45 for us. That means we are over 3 years now trying to conceive. It doesn't seem like that long, but then again it seems like forever. When will it be our turn? Will we have to spend thousands and thousands of dollars to realize our dream of becoming parents? Will we never be able to get pregnant (and stay pregnant)? I guess I am just feeling sorry for myself.
Stop it! Enough! I need to get my butt to the gym and start losing more weight. We need to just go about our daily lives and enjoy each other and enjoy being married. That's it, I'm done ttc for right now. I am going to enjoy life and enjoy my husband and get healthy! All the while I will look at baby stuff and try to make that ache in my heart go away.
Good luck to everyone ttc and I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Update

I went to the doctors on Thursday, and I have lost another 4 pounds in 2 weeks. This is perfect! I am supposed to lose 1-2 lbs per week with the band. So I am right on target. This brings my total up to 56 lbs. I am about 30 lbs away from my first goal, and 170 away from my total goal. I hope to lose the 30 lbs by mid summer, and an additional 60-70 by the end of 2010. Dh and I are joining the gym down the street so I can bump up the weigth loss.
We are currently on cycle #45 of ttc. I am going to concentrate on losing weight and loving my husband. I think I will stop keeping track of everything and just go with it. If, by the time I have reached my weight loss goal we still aren't pregnant or have a baby, I will go back to Dr. Russell and start IUI's.
Well, I am off to eat my breakfast. Have a wonderful week!

New house pictures!

The first picture is the beautiful set of windows in our master suite (it feels so weird to say that!). The second picture is the view from the living room into the kitchen! The third and fourth pictures are of the kitchen .

.

This is the beautiful kitchen! It is so wonderful to have such a large amount of counter space and the cabinets! The one to the left of the dishwasher is empty still, as are all the top shelves in every cabinet because I can't reach them!

I just wanted to share this with you. We are so blessed and feel so fortunate to have such a wonderful place to live!
Tomorrow is my 6 week post op appointment with the surgeon. I am super nervous about getting on the scale! I want to post a picture from October and then a picture DH just took, but I am too nervous! I will update after the appointment!

I can't figure out why the pictures and the text are so funky, oh well!

Celebrations!

Our first wedding anniversary is fast approaching! We are going to celebrate the night before at the restaurant we got married at. Then we are going to eat the top tier of the cake on May 3! It feels like we've been married forever, and who can remember what life was like before I met the most wonderful person in the world?
I go to the doctor on Thursday for my 6 week post op appointment. I am eating better and staying full for much longer. My breakfasts consist of:
1 hard boiled egg
1 oz almonds
3 slices apple
8 grapes
4 tbls peanut butter
1 mini multigrain bagel
It usually takes me 1/2 hour or so to eat it all, and it usually keeps me full for 3-4 hours. For lunch I have a salad, some fruit or some easy mac. I hve an afternoon snack of wheat thins and cheese or fruit. Dinner has been homemade (YAY!), mostly chicken with a side and a veg, sometimes beef or turkey. Sometimes we still order in or go out, but we have been enjoying dinner at home with each other. It is so nice to have a beautiful home to be in. I am going to post pictures tonight of the kitchen. We are so blessed.
I am planning to POAS on our anniversary if AF doesn't show her ugly head by then. What a wonderful anniversary present that would be!
I think if this month is a bust, I just want to concentrate on being healthier and being thankful for all we have. We have so much to be thankful for!
Have a wonderful week!

Moving Down!

We are officially in our new home (and it is so beautiful!), and I am officially at my new job! We are slowly working on getting the house together. It is coming along, just have to find storage space for stuff you don't use on a daily basis but need to keep, you know? Old pictures, sentimental stuff you can't get rid of, and if you are crazy like me.....baby stuff you've been collecting for 3+ years since a miscarriage. It's ridiculous the amount of baby stuff we already have!
I mean we have a stroller/car seat combo, crib bedding set, monitor, a bunch of clothes and a pooh bear towel, a bunch of toys that were given to us, and not to mention a hammock/glider thingy I got at a garage sale on day. I am obsessed! "Normal" people do not collect baby stuff in an effort to curb the heart wrenching desire to have a child! Only people who are dealing with infertility understand the obssesion with baby "stuff". I think I have done more research into what is good, what is bad, what's new, what's being discontinued, what I want, what I need and what I have to have........IF we become pregnant and have a baby!
It makes me crazy, and I know it drives DH crazy. He will ask me over and over, why do you do that to yourself? Why are you looking at baby stuff? Why?????? I wish I had the answer! I wish it wasn't such an intense almost physical urge to look at baby stuff! Hopefully I am not the only loony one out there (but I probably am!).
In regards to my weigth loss, I am eating my protein now instead of drinking it and I hope it's working. DH and I went on a nice walk around our new neighborhood last night. We met some super friendly people down the street with 2 very cute little pups. It's nice to live in an area where people can let their kids ride their bikes and play outside like we used to when we were young. We went and peeked at the pool, and it is big! I can't wait to swim!!!
Well, now that I have rambled and rambled about nothing.....have a blessed week!!

Everything's good!

Well, my DVT test went good, they didn't see anything to worry about. I took my last Lovenox injection this morning! YAY!!! No more bruised belly and stingy shots! My 1 month post op went well. I only lost another 3 lbs or so, but that's because I am so hungry! They officially told me to start eating regular food. No more liquids, so now I can start eating like a regular person again! Just in very small amounts. I have to really bulk up on my protein. I have to pick proteins that you have to chew so I will feel full longer. I have another appointment in 2 weeks so they can see if the hunger has subsided with food you actually have to chew.
The good news is that I don't have to come all the way back upstate to see my doctor. He has an office about mid-state, so the drive should only be 45 mins to an hour, instead of 1 1/2-2 hours.
My RE also has an office closer to us downstate, so I will be able to see both of these amazing doctors even though we are moving 2 hours away!
Saturday is my last day at this office. It hasn't quite hit me yet cause we're still living up here, but I am excited nonetheless! I hope to get the house in some semblance of order this weekend. I got the kitchen almost all the way unpacked, I just have a few things to put on the counter.
My mother-in-law and I went to Bed Bath & Beyond the other night to finish shopping for the new house, and it was a lot of fun! I spent too much money (like I always do!), but I got a ton of good stuff. I am addicted to that store, they really need to build one by my new house.
Well, I will update once we are settled into the new house! Have a blessed week everyone!

DVT test today

I have my DVT test this afternoon at 4 pm. I am nervous! I am sure there are not any blood clots as I have been on the blood thinner for almost 30 days now, but we cannot be positive about it, so it needs to be checked. I also go in for my 1 month post op tomorrow afternoon.
We are moving!!!! We just have a few final arrangements to be made, and we are outta here this weekend! I am getting super excited.
Hopefully the sun and salt water will bring us a little water baby soon!
I will update after my appointments! Have a good week!

11 lbs!

Since surgery I have lost 11 lbs. I was hoping to lose a little more, but that's OK! I feel good, I just hope to keep it up and continue to lose.
The doctor is sending me for a DVT to check for blood clots. I have some soreness in my calf, and I was unsure if this was due to a blood clot, or something else. I am going to schedule that today and hopefully the results are good!
I only have 10 days left of my Lovenox. I can't wait to stop sticking myself in the stomach with needles! YAY!
We are finishing packing up, and dreaming of moving day! Hopefully we can get the keys on Wednesday and move on Saturday!
Well, have a great week everyone and I'll talk to you soon!

2 1/2 weeks!

We have 2 1/2 weeks till moving day! We are finishing packing and getting rid of stuff. I go in for my post op tomorrow afternoon, I have just a few things to discuss with him.
It's weird, but I REALLY want to eat a salad. Specifically the southwest grilled chicken salad from McD's. It is delicious, kind of spicy, and mega amounts of protein. They told us in the classes beforehand that salad is off-limits. I just don't know for how long? I know asparagus is a no-no for as long as I have the band in, and so is tough meats. Anything that can get stuck, but I am craving some salad.
Other than that, my sister-in-law is doing well with her wrist, it still hurts of course, but she is doing well. My Dad and my brother are vacationing in Costa Rica for 10 days, so they are siestaing and eating all day long I suspect.
Well, I will update with my weight loss from surgery on Friday. I am excited, but nervous! Have a wonderful, blessed day!

Thursday, March 18, 2010

A new post everyday?

What has gotten into me? I just feel like typing!
My sister-in-law is having surgery today on her wrist. I know she will do well! It's going to be tough for her, she won't be able to use her hand for a while and she has our beautiful 2 year old nephew at home. Hopefully he will let his mommy rest and get better! We will all be praying for her and for a speedy recovery!
When my grandfather passed away, DH and I took his dog Brooklyn to our house. Well, last night we took him to the vet and she recommended we put him down. He is in so much pain with his back and legs. We tried to give him some pain meds last night but he won't take them! I feel really bad about it, but he will be in a better place without pain.
I have been adding some soft foods into my diet these last 2 days. I had some noodles last night and I tried some protein oatmeal this morning. The oatmeal made me feel full for about 4 hours today. I think I will try to eat more of that.
Have a wonderful day!

Before and after pictures

I am contemplating taking before and after pictures for surgery. I know it's already 1+ week after, but I do have a picture I took a little while ago that could serve as my before picture. How often should I take pictures? Once a week? Once a month? Whenever I get officially weighed at the doctors office? I would like to post a picture or two up here just so people know I'm real and not some crazy out in the world. Maybe I will work on that tonight after work.
The weather is gorgeous now! It's going to be a wonderful 66 degrees today! Perfect for my half day at work! I am excited to leave at 1 and spend the day running errands (fun, fun!) with my love!
It feels weird to be at work when I had all last week at home with my husband. I miss him like crazy when we're not together. I definitely admire all those service men and women who risk their lives and miss their families on a daily basis for us! I would go crazy everyday! A special thanks to all of them out there, and their families here who miss them like crazy!
Well, let me count my blessings and wish everyone a wonderful day!

New ideas...

So I have decided that once I return to the land of eating food you have to chew (as opposed to just liquid), I will spend a VAST amount of time cooking. I plan to cook anything and everything I can get my hands on. I have been looking at recipes and dreaming of being able to cook (and eat!) all of these delicious things.
We are moving into a new place with a HUGE beautiful kitchen that I cannot wait to use! Imagine, using an oven that's only a year or two old instead of 40! A refrigerator that has space! A DISHWASHER!!!!! It's kitchen joy overload!
I have been reading a great blog called the smitten kitchen (which I love!) and have decided to try a bunch of her recipes when I can eat. I think I will post what we think about all of these dishes. It will be such a fun thing to be able to have people over to share this with.
I am so looking forward to moving.........and eating! Right now my stomach is growling. I am hungry, but I have to wait 1/2 hour (I just ate some jello). It will be worth it in the end...especially if we are blessed enough to have a beautiful baby!
For now, I will enjoy being married to the most wonderful man in the world, moving to a new house, starting at a new office and just being blessed with what we have!

Surgery is DONE!

So it has been exactly 1 week since my surgery. I feel good, still have some residual shoulder pain from the gas they use to blow you up, but other than that I feel good! I am having some issues getting my protein and liquid requirements, but I am working on it! Now to get healthier and make babies!
We signed our new lease this week while I was out of work, so we are scheduled to start moving on Easter weekend. We are so excited and ready for a change! We have decided to go through everything in the house and donate or recycle anything we haven't used, or don't have room for. So far we have only gone through a closet and the florida room (also known as the storage room!), and we are getting rid of so much! We are so tired of moving junk from one place to another. It is time to start fresh and get rid of it!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday, and will continue to have a wonderful week! We are all so blessed!

Almost there!

Surgery is Monday morning! I have to be there at 5:30 AM....and I am READY! We got great news today! We are officially moving! This new place is gorgeous, and $300 a month cheaper in rent! They are energy efficient townhomes, so hopefully we can save some big bucks on the energy bills as well! We can start moving in shortly. We are super excited and ready to go!
I start with clear liquids tomorrow morning, and no solid foods for a good 8 weeks or so. Tonight I am going out to dinner with my Dad and stepmom and DH. It should be nice, I am going to eat some delicious salmon and enjoy it!
Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Surgery.....again!

My surgery got pushed back a week. It'll be on March 8th now. The pulmonologist is giving me problems with my clearance. I can't wait until my appointment with her is done next Thursday. All my other clearances went through without a problem, except hers. Oh well, I got officially cleared today (except pulm) so I am set to go! I am getting excited!
We are also going down to the beach to look at townhouses to rent next Wednesday. We have a rental application in and hopefully it goes through. We are so ready to move! It will be a savings of $300 a month just on rent! Not to mention electricity!
We are just ready! Ready for new exciting bigger better things!

Only 10 days left!

I only have 10 days until surgery! I went in for my pre-op yesterday, my blood work this morning and my last sleep study Tuesday night. The only thing left is my final clearance next Thursday! I am getting super excited!
I met a woman yesterday at the surgeon's office who had the lap band put in December 28th. I asked her what protein drinks she had used. She told me she just scrambled some eggs and that's how she got her 60 grams of protein a day. I almost fell off my chair. One egg only has 7 grams of protein. You're telling me you eat almost 10 eggs a day? That is crazy. She also let me know that she is eating regular food (and has been since 2 weeks after her surgery) and that a half of a wrap will fill her up! I must be thinking about this all wrong, because I learned that your stomach will hold 3 ozs after surgery. It will be the size of an egg. Why was this women eating regular food 2 weeks after surgery when you are supposed to be on liquids for 2-4 weeks, then pureed foods for another 4-6 weeks? I want this band to work, therefor I will follow the program, and eat only what I am supposed to eat when I am supposed to eat it.
I will have to stay one night in the hospital after surgery, and I will have to give myself shots of Lovenox (a blood thinner) for a month after. They are concerned about blood clots because I have a family history of them. My mom died from a blood clot almost 7 years ago.
That is really my only concern. I would be concerned about liquids and pureeds for so long, but I did the Opti Fast, which was liquids for 12 weeks. So 6-8 weeks? Piece of Cake! haha....
Well, as long as I have all my ducks in a row I will be getting surgery on March 1st! I will definitely be blogging about everything! Have a great weekend!

Sad...

I'm so sad to report that my Grandfather passed away on Tuesday. He was such a good person. The funeral is on Monday. It was just a short 7 months ago my Grandmother passed away. We have too many people up there.

Cruising!

Hi! We just got back from our wonderful 7 day cruise to the Bahamas to 2+ feet of snow! We left last Sunday and cruised from Baltimore down to our first stop at Cape Canaveral in Florida. We docked in Florida to 60 mph winds and chilly weather! We left Florida on Wednesday and docked in Nassau Bahamas on Friday morning. It was a sunny 85 and gorgeous! Next stop was supposed to be Freeport Bahamas, but alas, mother nature had other plans for us! We were not able to dock at the port in Freeport because the winds were too high. It would have been unsafe for anyone to get off the boat there. So, DH and I relaxed and swam and ate....and ate....and ate! I am scared to get on the scale. We took naps in the afternoon and just spent a lot of time together, enjoying our time away from everything.
We did come home to the realization that we have to find someplace else to live. It is really difficult for us since DH is out of work with a hurt back. Our rent is too high for us to afford and we just really need to find a better place to live.
Our nephew is turning 2 this weekend coming up! We are super excited about what we got him. We are taking him to Sesame Street Live in April, and we also got him his first stock in Disney. he loves Mickey Mouse! His party should be fun, I heard rumors of cake and cupcakes and cookies!
I am still on schedule to have my surgery done on March 1. I go in for my pulmonologist appointment tomorrow afternoon, and my final sleep study tomorrow night. Then it is just my final clearance and my pre-op with my surgeon. We are getting close! 20 days away!!!! 20!!!
My grandfather is really sick, we are hoping he gets better, but it doesn't look good right now. I am asking for lots of prayers for him and for our family. Thank you!
I hope everyone had a fun filled (snowy) weekend, and a safe (even more snowy!) week!

Friday, January 8, 2010

I have a tentative surgery date!!! YAY!!!! I am so super excited!
My date is set for March 1! It's only 51 days away! I have a lot to do in 51 days, and a lot to get ready for. I am so ready and looking forward to this!

Only 5 more appointments!

So I completed my first of three lifeskills classes last night. I have to take these classes in order for my insurance to pay for the lap band surgery. They are supposed to show you what life will be like after surgery. I learned that my stomach will be about the size of an egg, and it will take me 30 minutes to eat 2 oz of food. These are things I am actually looking forward to, I know this isn't a permanent part of my life, so I can deal with it for as long as I need to, in order to get healthy.
I have another lifeskills next Thursday, then the following week will be my last classes. I have a nutrition class in the morning and a lifeskills in the afternoon.
Then we cruise! Yay! I am so looking forward to a vacation! I have 2 more appointments, one with the pulmonologist and one for the final medical clearance for surgery. I hope to get my surgery date before we go on the cruise.
DH and I are also looking to move sometime in the near future. An opportunity to lower our rent by $300 a month, and really lower our electric bill. The house we live in now costs us $1250 a month for rent and $275 a month for electric. That is a crazy amount of money. We are looking to move into these new energy efficient beautiful townhomes downstate from where we are now. We would really like to purchase one, but that's not in the cards for us right now. So we will rent for another year (or 2!) depending on how much we can save and how we can work on paying some bills down.
Well, I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and a great new year!
Here's to getting healthy and having babies!
